Desert Ironwood
Desert Ironwood is one of the densest, most dramatic turning woods available — known for its striking orange-to-black grain and rock-hard density (Janka hardness of 3,260 lbf). We carry it in burl and standard form, sourced from both Mexico and Arizona, in pen blank, call blank, and other sizes.
Naturally oily and not suited for resin stabilizing, Desert Ironwood turns and finishes beautifully as-is — a favorite for pens, knife handles, and other durable, eye-catching turned pieces.
